Roland brings extensive knowledge and experience to FPIS. Prior to forming FPIS he was involved in Indian Gaming for over 20 years. From executive level marketing, sales management, consulting service and being General Manager, Roland knows Indian Gaming, its challenges and it’s people. He is excited that FPIS will be filling a void left by the typical insurance agency. He oversees all operations of FPIS and is excited that FPIS is opening a new chapter in Indian Entrepreneurship.

Being a proud member of Red Lake he understands the Indian country from a personal experience. He enjoys the "Rez" life by spending his spare time in the woods and water chasing deer, waterfowl and fishing with his family. He enjoys traveling with his wife Kay and has a gift for working on cars.

Roland is married to his Kay, they have two children together, Kylan and Kinzer. His community involvement continues with the countless hours he has spent at and continues to do so coaching and umpiring.

Roland holds a BA in Marketing Management from Concordia College in St. Paul.

Gary's goal at First Peoples Insurance is to design a benefit plan set that brings long term value and cost containment to the employer and its staff. Gary has a great working knowledge of the marketplace, the providers and the nuances of all benefit plans. With his 20+ years of experience in the field he has the knowledge and expertise that our clients need and deserve. Many of the benefit plans that Gary has created have been adopted by many of the major carriers as their new "standard" of benefit delivery.

Gary holds the professional designations of:

  • Has been a big part of the Kinship Partners success in the lakes area
  • His non-profit organization, Walters Wacky Adventures, has helped raise over $150,000 for the Kinship program.

  • Awarded the Brainerd Citizen of the year in 2012
  • Elected Crow Wing County Commissioner, 2002-2006
  • A Brainerd area youth sports coach in football, baseball, and hockey
Gary was born in Crosby Minnesota, and grew up in the Twin Cities. After graduating from Osseo High School, he attended the University of Minnesota, receiving a B.S. in Economics, along with a minor in Computer Science and Physics. He spent two years in the Marine Corps. He moved back to the Brainerd lakes area in 1991, and was previously employed by State Farm in the early 1990s. Gary started a small insurance firm in 1996, followed by Fiducia Benefits Group in 2000.

Dave Bergin of First Peoples Insurance Services grew up on the Leech Lake Reservation, he brings a unique prospective to Native client services. He has developed enrollment plans and a service model that is currently being used on the Leech Lake Reservation. He entered the customer service world in 1996 in telecommunications from there he segued into the insurance market place in 1997. The first part of his career was spent in the Cass Lake MN area, he currently works out of our branch office in Brainerd.

He currently holds designation of PHR (Professional in Human Resources) from S.H.R.M. (Society of Human Resource Professionals). He also holds a Professional Designation of CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) from the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. Both designations are nationally recognized professional designations.

He has served as President of the local SHRM chapter in Brainerd and was a former board member for Minnesota SHRM. He was a former board member of the Headwaters Builders Association in Bemdji. He is actively involved in Kinship Partners, a “Big Brother, Big Sister” type of mentoring program and serves as an assistant elementary wrestling coach.

He is married and has two great kids. As a family they spend a lot of time on their ranch riding horse, gardening and doing home improvement projects.
